Six of Great Britain’s top archers will soon experience Lord’s as a venue after being selected for the London 2012 test event.
Tthe London Archery Classic is a high-profile international competition in its own right, this year it will lead up to next summer’s Olympic event at the famous cricket ground.
Simon Terry, Larry Godfrey and Alan Wills make up the men’s team, while five-time Olympian Alison Williamson joins Naomi Folkard and Amy Oliver representing the women. Terry, Godfrey and Wills are an established team having represented Team GB in Beijing in 2008.
“Lord’s is an iconic venue, and it will be wonderful to take part in an international archery tournament at the home of cricket, walking out through the long room and down those steps will be something else” said Larry Godfrey.
Final selection for the Games takes place next year but these six are the current favourites.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be taking part in the test event at Lord’s and I cannot tell you how much it will mean to me to be there next year as part of the Olympic team” declared Godfrey.
